South Osbourne Road Replacement

PROJECT details

Client: Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC Water)

Location: South Osbourne Road, Upper Marlboro, MD

Capabilities: Replacement, Heavy Civil

Contract Value: $24,593,300

  • The South Osbourne Road project involved the replacement of approximately 3.66-miles of water mains and house connections up to property lines. The existing pipes, which were installed in the 1960’s and 1990’s, were approaching the end of their service life. The new water mains were constructed from zinc-coated ductile iron, wrapped in a protective coating, and with a life expectancy of at least 100 years. This upgrade is intended to reduce the frequency of water main breaks and the associated disruptions. Spiniello coordinated with local and State agencies, as well as other utilities, to prevent conflicts and minimize disturbances to the surrounding neighborhoods.
