From Three to Four: Yosselin Ayala Welcomes Adrian Alexander
Yosselin Ayala, Project Engineer in our DC office, on big brothers, bedtime kisses, and learning she can love both.
This summer, our DC office had a friendly competition going. As Yosselin counted down to the arrival of her second son, teammates placed their bets in a “guess the date” game. Adrian Alexander settled it on June 25, 2026, and Estefany G. got it exactly right.
“He’s such a sweet, happy baby, and it’s been so special watching our family grow from three to four,” Yosselin says. “Life has definitely gotten a little busier, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Brothers Adrian, 3 months and Julian, 2,
Big brother, reporting for duty
Two-year-old Julian took his new role seriously, but not overnight. The first few days were an adjustment, especially learning to share Mom and Dad’s attention with someone new. As he got used to having his little brother around, he started embracing the job.
Now, one of the first things Julian asks every morning is “Dónde está bebé?” (Where’s the baby?). Bedtime also has a new, nonnegotiable step.
“Every night, he absolutely refuses to go to bed without giving his little brother a goodnight kiss,” Yosselin says. “It’s become part of our bedtime routine, and there’s no skipping it.”
From not-so-sure to biggest fan
For Yosselin and her husband, Jonathan, the sweetest part has been watching Julian go from not being the biggest fan of his little brother to being his biggest fan.
“We honestly weren’t sure how the two-year age gap would work out, but seeing them together now makes us realize how much we love it,” she says. “They’ll get to grow up together and experience so many things side by side.”
At three months, Adrian is already joining in, smiling and laughing when the family plays with him. “It’s been really fun watching their bond develop, and I can’t wait to see how their relationship grows as they get older.”
What baby #2 taught her
Asked what she wishes she’d known the first time around, Yosselin doesn’t hesitate.
“I wish I’d known that I didn’t have to have everything figured out as a first-time mom. I used to put so much pressure on myself to follow routines and do everything right, when really, I was learning as I went.”
Her other lesson comes with a smile: “I also wish I’d known just how easy the newborn stage was compared to chasing a toddler around.”
Two parts of who she is
After time at home with her boys, Yosselin was ready to get back to her routine, her projects, and her team.
“As much as I loved being home with my boys, I also genuinely enjoy working and having that part of my life,” she says. “Motherhood is a huge part of who I am, but so is my career, and I’ve learned that I can love both!”
Congratulations to Yosselin, Jonathan, Julian, and Adrian from all of us at Spiniello. Welcome to the family, little one.
