Spiniello Featured in CT Magazine

Construction Today profiles Spiniello Companies and how our teams combine trenchless technology and heavy civil expertise to renew water infrastructure

Spiniello Companies is featured in the latest issue of Construction Today. The profile looks at how our teams combine trenchless technology and heavy civil expertise to renew the water and wastewater systems that communities depend on.

The feature centers on a conversation with Chief Operating Officer Luis Best. He describes the philosophy that has guided Spiniello for more than a century: start with the problem, not the product. “We work to understand the owner’s problem first and then find the right solution,” Luis told the magazine. With CIPP lining, geopolymer lining, sliplining, and cement mortar lining on the trenchless side, and deep excavation, bypass pumping, and pipeline replacement on the heavy civil side, our crews can look at a challenge from every angle before choosing an approach.

Renewing the Potomac Interceptor with DC Water

The article highlights our role in DC Water’s long-term renewal of the Potomac Interceptor, a major regional sewer line serving Virginia, Maryland, and the District. Our work on the line began with an emergency rehabilitation in late 2025, completed under live-flow conditions. It has since grown into a Construction Manager at Risk partnership. Under that model, our teams work alongside DC Water, engineers, and manufacturers to assess the system section by section and match each one with the right rehabilitation method.

Award-winning work in Los Angeles

Construction Today also revisits North Outfall Sewer Unit 10 in Los Angeles, named the 2025 Trenchless Technology Project of the Year. The project was a complex sliplining job on one of the city’s critical sewer arteries. Luis credits the award to our entire California team.

Built by people

Throughout the feature, one theme keeps coming back: the work succeeds because of the people doing it. That includes project managers, superintendents, foremen, field crews, and the partners who support them. Luis also shares his own path at Spiniello, from field engineer to COO. He describes our commitment to creating that same opportunity for others as we grow across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and West Coast.
