Route 3 Passaic River Crossing Sewer Rehabilitation Project – 2009

Spiniello is an innovator in the use of sliplining systems. This involves the installation of a slightly smaller pipe into a larger existing host pipe.
On the Route 3 Passaic River Crossing Sewer Rehabilitation Project, New Jersey Department of Transportation engineers were challenged with designing a method of enhancing the structural integrity of the 108" combination sewer main in Clifton, NJ, on Route 3 leading to the Meadowlands Sports Complex and the Lincoln Tunnel.
After seven years of planning the DOT proposed a sliplining project allowing for a 99" arched shaped pipe to be installed under live flow conditions in the existing host pipe. Spiniello was the low bidder on this project and saved the state $1.2 million. Our extensive past experience allowed us to work against challenging weather and high flow conditions, Spiniello completed the project in the winter of early 2010.
