Spiniello Collaborates on Largest CIPP Project in Los Angeles’ History
August 1, 2008
In a collaboration with Colich and Sons/J.R. Pipeline, a joint venture, Spiniello recently played a significant role in the largest Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining project in the history of Los Angeles’ wastewater program. Spiniello lined three 78-inch diameter siphon barrels — a third of a mile in length, and dating back to the 1920’s — as part of the Lower North Outfall Sewer Rehabilitation Phase II Project. This was a major project for the City of Los Angeles that successfully rehabilitated 18,200 lf of sewer lines while keeping the water flowing and all services functioning for its residents.
Spiniello Ingenuity Overcomes Obstacles in $8.9M Slip-lining Project
July 1, 2008
Spiniello recently completed a massive rehabilitation of the Four Mile Creek Trunk Sewer in Henrico County, VA. This $8.9 million project involved the slip-lining of more than 4,000 lf of dramatically deteriorated 84-inch concrete sewer pipe with 72-inch fiberglass pipe. In addition to developing an innovative approach for maneuvering around tight curves, the project team worked closely with the pipe manufacturer to develop a comprehensive, customized solution. Plus, they did it all while working within the constraints of the sewer line’s location — paralleling in close proximity to Interstate 295 (I-295), as well as running beneath the highway and crossing it at three separate points. To learn more about the technical highlights, see the recent coverage of this slip-lining project in the trade magazines Underground Construction (March 2008) and Trenchless Technology (July 2008).

Spiniello Goes Beyond Flood Damage Control for Cedar Rapids
June 1, 2008
Despite the massive flooding that left most of Iowa underwater in June 2008, Spiniello began a critical $9 million project to rehabilitate the sewer infrastructure of Cedar Rapids, Iowa’s second largest city. The objective was to rehabilitate the Main interceptor lines at the city’s Water Pollution Control Facility. Although the facility was completely inundated with water, Spiniello collaborated with city officials to create a comprehensive, long-term plan for eliminating a wide range of problems. Working on both sides of a busy railroad track, the Spiniello team quickly adapted to the demands of the project — developing innovative solutions onsite and within budget. The project is expected to be completed within a matter of months. "Spiniello is in the business of satisfying clients, but it was particularly gratifying to be able to help a city in the midst of a dire emergency," said E.J. Solimine, the company’s vice president. "We are glad we were able to help and go beyond simply solving a problem."

"The leadership at Spiniello made a strategic decision several years ago to establish a presence within the Southwest, and the time was right to establish this new base of operations" said E.J. Solimine, the company’s vice president. "We believe the Lone Star State and its neighboring states will be an incredible market for us."
