Pipe Bursting

Bypass PumpingPipe Bursting is a trenchless method of replacing buried pipelines (such as sewer, water, or natural gas pipes) without the need for a traditional construction trench. “Launching and receiving pits” replace the trench needed by conventional pipe-laying.

Spiniello’s Pipe Bursting processes increase flow characteristics and the diameter of underground pipelines without disturbing streets, sidewalks, or any surface structures. For example, we have recently worked in California using the static bursting process, which is simple yet effective. Specially designed bladed rollers are pulled through an existing line by a hydraulically powered bursting unit. As the bladed rollers are pulled through, they split the host pipe. An expander attached to the rollers forces the fragmented pipe into the surrounding soil, while simultaneously pulling in the new pipe.
